Anti-Zimbabwe lobby getting desperate

The man simply cannot be a leader. He is not cut out for that big job.
The west find him very convenient. That's why they shower him with accolades so that he does not see through their machinations

THE anti-Mugabe, anti-Zimbabwe, anti-Zanu-PF, anti-indigenisation, anti-land reform, anti-empowerment lobby is getting tired and desperate. It is a sad story; almost pathetic.

Yesterday, I read with slight trepidation that MDC-T leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, had won an award called the International Association of Political Consultants (IAPC) Democracy Medal.

It was interesting to hear that Tsvangirai had won a "Political Consultants" award.

The irony is that this award comes on the back of one of the most embarassing diplomatic blunders in the history of Zimbabwe - when Tsvangirai wrote to Western countries trying to nullify diplomatic reassignments made by President Mugabe.

The award also comes on the back of one of the most ridiculous suggestions ever made by a Zimbabwean politician - that the country's next election should be monitored by a "peace-keeping force".

It also comes as Tsvangirai has demonstrated a sustained and consistent level of political infantilism, by suggesting that the Zimbabwe constitution should be a "negotiated constitution"; even though he had fought against the Kariba document for months.

The MDC-T party is in disarray, with its U.K. branches alleged to be selling fake papers and fake party membership cards to people who are seeking asylum in that country.

Tsvangirai, as prime minister, has kept quiet on the most crucial issues bedevelling Zimbabwe; the issue of the certification of Marange diamonds and the issue of empowerment.

In fact, on empowerment, he told The Economist magazine that he would propose a 5 percent equity share for Zimbabweans; and 95 percent for foreign investors. How he came up with such a ridiculous figure is no longer the question. We do not expect him to come up with anything sensible anymore about the future of Zimbabwe.

Those who gave him the benefit of the doubt have been let down by his childish manner and his tantrums.

Those who put their reputation on the line supporting such a vacillatory and caustic character are waking up to the reality that they bet their money on a limping horse. There are very few people who want to be associated with the MDC-T anymore. There is just no hope in that party, and its leadership

Commentators who had courted Tsvangirai are burying themselves in shame; as he shamelessly moves from one diplomatic blunder to another. Very few defenders like John Makumbe still hold on to the hope that one day Tsvangirai will rule Zimbabwe. They underestimate his self-destructive impulse.

The man simply cannot be a leader. He is not cut out for that big job.

The west find him very convenient. That's why they shower him with accolades so that he does not see through their machinations.

He lives on the hope that one day, "The west and I will live happily ever after". This is one ridiculous fairy tale, whose script is made as you go.

Simply put, those who give him accolades and those who follow him blindly will sink with him as he continues down the downward political spiral. They will undermine their institutions by displaying blatantly ignorant appreciation of Zimbabwe.

Mr Tsvangirai has become an unwitting puppet; who waits for handouts (that never come) and approval from the west; but at the same time adopts a fake Look East Policy; going to South Korea for help, when he had promised the people of Zimbabwe that his "friends" in the west would deliver.
